MIND MAGIC ™ is a program developed by Mona Marshall, primarily for elementary school children, which uses imagery to enhance reading, comprehension, and speaking skills, while helping to build character, ethical behavior and self-esteem.
The catalyst of MIND MAGIC ™ is a 10-part read aloud book, written in radio drama, cliffhanger style: "ANGELLE AND THE MAGIC PEN"©. The story revolves around young Angelle, who buys a ten-color pen, draws a picture with it, and then, when the picture begins talking to her, draws herself into the scene, thus beginning the first of many "thrill-a-lating" adventures of a lifetime!
As children listen and focus on Angelle’s adventure, they begin to comprehend the power of the images invoked by the written and spoken word, as well as the responsibility that is crucial to that power. Since each chapter closes with questions, children are then encouraged to write about what they think will happen next, thus inspiring them to use their own MIND MAGIC ™ and explore the power they have.
Other aspects of MIND MAGIC ™ utilize art, music and speech exercises to engage children in the appreciation of the written and spoken word, so that reading becomes more meaningful and enjoyable. The by-product of this experience is that children discover that learning is desirable, and that knowledge and responsibility are the keys for them becoming a vital part of their community. Learning Power Blooms To Life!
